This is an Eco Safari Lodge and Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a 6000ha game reserve situated in the Kgalagadi district in the general area of Kang close to the Southern border of the Central Kalahari Game Park in Botswana.
This part of the Kalahari Desert can be termed as a semi-arid zone and is most probably the most
uninterrupted sand-covered area in the world. The sand on the property is more pallid (whitish) as
opposed to the red sand in the rest of the Kalahari. The average rainfall on the farm is
approximately 280mm per annum. Rainfall is one of the main ecological driving forces in this area,
since it determines the quantity of plant growth each year, which affects various species of animals
utilizing the diverse habitat on offer. The farm represents a diverse variety of trees, shrubs and
grass, making it an ideal habitat for browsers and mixed-feeders. The farm is in excellent condition in terms of grass cover, with little to no erosion. The farm has a number of natural pans, of which some hold water throughout the year, once again contributing to excellent specie and habitat diversity.
The Kalahari system as a geological area is situated between the Orange River in the south to approximately the Kongo. This is most probably the most uninterrupted sand covered area in the world.
The sand rests mainly on limestone with a depth varying between one and three hundred metres. The average depth of sand on this property is 100m. The sand on the farm can be described as light coloured "palled" in contrast with the red sand in the rest of the Kalahari.
In the southern Kalahari area the sand lies in distinct linear dunes, while the areas in the north has a wavy landscape. The dunes are all covered in grass, shrubs and trees, and thus the dunes are stable and not disturbed by wind.
Although the Kalahari is generally seen as a desert is is in actual fact a semi-arid zone and the average rainfall on this farm amounts to 280mm per annum.
Rainfall is one of the main ecological driving forces in this area. It determines the quantity of plant growth each year and the amount of feeding for game. If for example it rained early in the seaon, certain grass species are favoured. Should it rain at a later stage totally different specier are favoured.
4. Plant growth
The farm is categorized under plant growth Type2(b): the Northern Kalahari Tree and Shrubs Savannah as set out in the Revised Plant Growth Map of Botswana. This veld type is found in waving landscape consisting of vast sand dunes. Between the dunes one encounters low lying areas with small pans. The bigger trees are usually found on top of the sand dunes.
Between and on top of the dunes you find a variety of shrubs and thicker shrub veld. In spots, the veld forms wavy open savannah with less trees and fewer shrubs. This landscape is found in the north western portion of the property and is rather attractive. The variety of pans on the farm contributes to the landscape and biological diversity. The ancient river bed in the southwest provides a further type of habitat that contributes to the beauty and functionality of the farm.
The most important large trees in this area are basterkameel, terminalia prunoides, kanniedood, shepherd trees, Kalahari appleleaf, and albizia harveye. Other species that are found in abundance are A.Tortillis, A.Fleckii, and swarthak.
6. Grass cover
The grass cover is very important not only as animal grazing but also as protection against erosion. In this area erosion is not a problem and as a matter of fact the farm is in an excellent ecological condition. The distribution of various grasses are affected by certain environmental factors. These factors include the clay percentage, moisture concentration, soil depth and also interspecies competition.
This is a relative dynamic system where the make-up of species changes rapidly due to changes in envirionmental conditions. Animals contribute to the dynamic character of the vegetation.
Herbs contribute as a form of interest to tourists eg hermstea glauca with its pretty way of blooming. In early summer lots of flowering shrubs and herbs are found on the property.
8. Tsammas and cucumbers
The tsamma and smaller cucumbers are of major importance as an alternative water source for the game.
Although the pans on the property are small in comparison to those in the southern part of the Kalahari they are important. There are an unusual number of pans on the farm, but their incalculable value lies not in their numbers but in their contribution to species and habitat diversity.

CAMP SITES IN CENTRAL KALAHARI
Campers en route to or from the Okavango or Central Kalahari Game Park can enjoy our camping facilities at the lodge. This camping site offers sleeping facilities for 18 guests. Campers can make use of a large thatched lapa with a rustic bush kitchen, as well as a large boma with ablution facilities with hot water and showers. Electricity power points are available.
Guests are welcome to use the dining facilities at the lodge by prior arrangement. Should a camper prefer not to pitch his tent again, they can make use of the luxury tents situated in close proximity from the original camp.
SUNKEN HIDE ACCOMMODATION
The Sunken Hide site provides basic comfortable sleep over facilities ideal for tourists who wishes to await the excitement of close encounters with animals coming in to drink at night. Ideal for stunning photographic opportunities. Any Photographers dream come true!
Together with the natural surroundings supporting the bird life and game species of Central Kalahari, a number of man made waterholes have been built to supply a more permanent source of water in the area.
On this Eco Safari Lodge there are an estimate of 750 head of game which includes cheetah, brown hyena, leopard, lions, wild dogs and many antelope species.
Birds like Owls, Bateleur eagles, Lappet-faced vulture, white backed vultures as well as Secretary birds are among the bird species to be spotted in the surroundings.
As in most eco-tourism lodges game viewing is undertaken in a Game drive vehicle that offer early morning, late afternoon and at night game drive. A once in a lifetime overnight stay at a nearby Kalahari pan is available to your guests.
This Eco Safari Lodge, being the only exclusive game orientated reserve in the area that uses eco friendly energy systems for generating electricity and pumping water. This system ensures minimal impact on the environment while ensuring maximum comfort for guests at the lodge.
Generally water in this area can be extremely saline (brackish or salty). However, this property is fortunate to have two boreholes that supplies excellent drinking water.
The Property has modern Butchery and cold room. The price below includes also 2 cruisers a tractor and a grader in.
Botswana Land Board, on expiry of the leases, gives the current owner the option to renew for a further 50 years provided the property is being utilized in an economically sustainable manner and for the intended purposes as per the lease agreements. The owner’s intent to renew must be indicated at least 6 months before the expiry dates.
It is important to note that Botswana is probably one of the most stable, secure and peaceful countries in Africa. Any investment into this country is secure, and investors of your caliber are welcomed with open arms.
