Water
There are 4 watering holes. One of the main features is the large natural dam that is fed by three fountains and has maintained its level for the past 40years. The area presents an annual rainfall of more than 500 mm per year. A powerful generator and borehole pumps water to a 2000 liter storage tank and a pipe line transfer bulk water to a 2000 liter holding tank from where it is distributed by gravitation to the main man made watering hole.

The game stock is actively managed and captures are conducted at regular intervals. Various Rowland Ward trophies represented in the stock such as Bushbuck, Impala, Blouwildebees, Klipspringer, Warthog, Blesbuck and Duiker. Other recorded game includes Leopard, serval, caracal, baboon, monkeys, bush babies and all the other bushveld night creatures. Two monitor lizard species frequents the area.

Birds:
The Kranskop area is in close proximity of the world renowned Nylsvley Nature Reserve which is a Ramsar site and a proclaimed World Heritage Site. It is one of the fore most birding sites in the world and with more than 200 species identified; it is a bird watching haven. Ornithologists from all over the world visit this area yearly. Various birding clubs are doing annual research projects and the Pretoria Bird club frequents Kranskop quarterly with a dedicated ringing program in conjunction with the University of Cape Town. Eleven pair Cape Vultures breed on the cliffs of Kranskop and are fed at a vulture “restaurant” in the vicinity. This 74ha has its own “Big Five” is represented by the majestic Secretary Bird, the Martial Eagle, Fish Eagle, Stanley’s Bustard and the Cape Vulture. These are much sought after identifications for the birding fraternity.

Kranskop
Access to the mystical Kranskop Mountain is via a large swing gate in the security fence. Breath taking walks and vistas from the plateau give unspoilt views of the Springbok Flats, the Nylsvley and the Waterberg Mountain Range. The abundance of natural game on the adjacent properties have a positive influence on the ecology of the area.
